How LeadProton Works — Step by Step
What LeadProton does
LeadProton finds people in online communities and on social platforms who are asking, in their own words, for what you sell. AI scores every post so the best leads come first, and helps you write a message that fits. It can even send the first message and answer replies for you, while you stay in control.
Here is exactly how it works, step by step.
Step 1: Tell LeadProton what you sell
You start by creating a campaign. Describe your business in a few lines and add your website; AI can help you write the description.
Keywords: LeadProton suggests the phrases buyers use when they ask for help. Keep them, edit them or add your own.
Negative keywords: words that rule a post out, such as "DIY" or "student".
Competitors (optional): the kinds of businesses you compete with. Posts from them are flagged and never messaged.
Social channels: choose where to look; your plan sets how many social channels you can use.
Step 2: LeadProton scans for buying signals
LeadProton searches the social channels you picked for posts where people ask for recommendations, look for a tool or need a service like yours. You can run a scan any time.
On a paid plan it also scans by itself: every 12 hours on Starter, every 6 hours on Growth and every hour on Scale.
Step 3: AI scores every lead and explains why
Every post gets a score from 1 to 10 for how likely the person is to buy, with a short explanation. Open a lead and you also see:
who they are: their role or business
their buying intent, from low to very high
how urgent it is, from just browsing to ASAP
where they are, from researching to ready to act
If the poster matches your competitors list, the lead is marked Competitor detected.
Step 4: See the best leads first
Your dashboard puts the freshest leads on top: the last 24 hours, then the last 3 days, then the last 7, with the highest scores first in each group. You can search your leads, filter by campaign and export them to Excel or CSV.
Want to hear about strong leads right away? Turn on Slack or email alerts for every lead that scores 7 or more.
Step 5: Reach out with the right message
Click Generate Reply on any lead and AI writes a message based on their post. Choose a public reply or a private DM, set the tone (friendly, professional or casual) and the length, and add your own instructions, such as your name, your offer or a link.
You stay in charge: edit the text, copy it and post it yourself. If you connect your account, you can send the DM straight from LeadProton.
When someone answers, Continue Conversation writes your next reply from the whole chat.
Step 6: Let Auto Outreach make the first contact (optional)
Connect your account in Settings through the platform's own secure approval screen. LeadProton never sees your password.
Then switch on Auto DM. For each lead that scores at or above your minimum (8 by default), AI writes the first DM from your instructions.
Review before sending is on from the start: every DM waits for your approval. Switch it off when you trust the drafts.
Safe limits: 5, 15 or 25 DMs a day, depending on your account's age and reputation, with a gap between messages. You can set a lower limit.
Nobody twice: someone who has had a message from LeadProton is never messaged again, and competitors are skipped.
Replies too: when a lead writes back, autopilot can answer using a separate set of instructions. After a set number of replies (3 by default) it hands the chat back to you.
Every draft, sent message and reply shows on the Auto Outreach page, so you always see what went out.
Step 7: Keep every conversation in one place
The Conversations page holds your chats with leads, including chats you started yourself outside LeadProton. New messages are marked, so you see at a glance who wrote back. Open a chat to read the full history and reply from there.
More tools
Research Intelligence: an AI market report for any campaign. You get 2 a month on Starter, 5 on Growth and 25 on Scale.
Contact Intelligence (Scale): search for businesses and the people who run them, find their emails, and let AI write the outreach email. Export your contacts to Excel.

Questions people ask before signing up
Is it safe for my account? Auto Outreach sends at a careful pace: a daily limit based on your account's age and reputation, a gap between messages, and never the same person twice. New accounts get stricter limits, so an established account works best.
Do I have to give LeadProton my password? No. You connect through the platform's own approval screen, and you can disconnect any time in Settings.
Can I check messages before they go out? Yes. Review before sending is on by default, so nothing is sent until you approve it.
Does LeadProton post public comments for me? No. It writes the reply; you copy it and post it yourself. Only DMs can be sent from LeadProton.
What if a lead is a competitor? Add your competitors to the campaign. LeadProton flags posters who match and never messages them.
Which social channels are covered? The main places where people ask for recommendations: 1 channel on Starter, 3 on Growth and 4 on Scale. You see the full list once you sign up.
